5. Processed, Packaged Snack Foods
If you’re used to getting goodies at the vending machine every day at work, you’re going to have to stop and start bringing your own snacks to work. Packaged snacks aren’t good options for people with diabetes. They’re usually made with refined flour and have a high carb count. High-carb, processed foods can really spike your blood sugar, and you should be eating low-carb, high-fiber snacks instead.
Pick out a motley mix of snack foods at the health food store, get some Tupperware containers, and start taking your own snacks to work. Vending machine snacks will be high in carbs, low in fiber, and send your blood sugar spiking out of control. Plus, you’ll likely be irritable when your blood sugar crashes back down, and that won’t make you very popular around the office.
