4. Portion Control
Portion control can help you regulate the number of calories you’re eating and help with weight loss. Several studies have shown that your weight can help with blood sugar levels, and a lower weight has been shown to lower the risk of getting type 2 diabetes at all.
Keeping your serving sizes low can help cut down on calorie intake and the blood sugar spikes that follow. There are some easy ways to control portions. You can actually measure and weigh your portions, purchase smaller plates, don’t go out to eat at buffets, check out the food labels for what the serving sizes are, keep a food journal handy, and eat more slowly.
All of these are good tips for doing portion control. Remember, portion control is just one of the tools you’ve got in your dietary toolbox for dealing with high blood sugar. Lowering your blood sugar through diet and exercise is a multi-front battle.
