12. Lose Some Weight
Most people can stand to lose a little weight, and studies have shown that losing just 5-10% of body weight can have a significant effect on fitness and health. Weight loss also improves cardiovascular health in general. It will also reduce your needs for medications that lower lipids, treat diabetes, and treat hypertension.
This is especially important if you’re carrying a lot of weight in your abdomen. Eating less simple carbs and more good fats, as well as doing portion control, will help you keep that weight off. Remember what we mentioned about exercising often and hard, too. All of this will help you lose weight.
You might notice that you feel a lot better after switching to delicious whole foods, getting off junk food, and exercising more. Why would you want to go back to your old life, a life that contributed to you developing type 2 diabetes. You’ll also feel more confident and better about yourself if you lose weight and look better. It’s a good idea all-around.
