While cereal might seem like a healthy choice and part of a balanced diet, it really depends on what cereal you’re eating. Cereal can have as much sugar in it like candy, and it might not have much fiber, either. If you’re going to eat cereal, get no-sugar-added cereal that’s high in fiber.
Most cereals are very low in fiber and high in carbs, and that’s not good for anyone with diabetes. The good news is that you can modify your breakfast cereal, and it might even be more delicious than before. If you choose a natural, high-fiber cereal and add berries and other approved, delicious toppings, you might find that you like it even more than the sugary sweet breakfast cereal you were eating before.
