20. Keep Track of Your Blood Sugar Levels
Measurement is the first step in management. If you don’t measure something, you can’t very well manage it. Measuring and monitoring your blood sugar can help you control it. For instance, tracking it helps you know whether you should make changes in your medications or meals.
It will also give you some insight into how your body reacts to certain foods. Try to measure your levels every day, and keep track of what your levels are in a log. If you don’t know what’s happening in your body, you can’t treat whatever’s going on. You want to make sure you have a firm handle on what’s up, or you’ll just be guessing.
You can’t make progress absent accurate measurements and serious management skills. You might just think you have high blood sugar, but you can’t really know unless you’re measuring it and keeping track of it throughout the day.
