8. Stop Drinking So Much Alcohol
Alcohol is terrible for diabetics. You don’t have to give up alcohol entirely, but you should really cut back on it. Alcohol has lots of added sugars, and it dehydrates the body, too. Drink socially and in moderation. Don’t ever have more than one drink.
You can probably have a drink with friends to kick back at the end of a long day, but your days of getting plastered and binge drinking are over. Diabetics can’t afford the blood sugar spikes and dehydration associated with high alcohol intake. It may be sad that you have to give up alcohol, but you have to forego certain vices in life now that you have diabetes.
